Week of August 20-24

English 10

Monday: Today we will begin with a journal entry. We will also hand out your Flowers for Algernon (FFA) books and jounals.

Tuesday:
Another journal entry. We will begin reading Flowers for Algernon in class together. You will be responsible for the first part of the journal. It will be due on Thursday.

Wednesday: Another journal entry. We will introduce the steps to a quality research papers. We will have your topics due on Friday.

Thursday: Taking notes over choosing your topics. We will also be doing the activities for the first part of Flowers for Algernon. You will have a little time to work on your journals, or do some pre-researching.

Friday: Today we will focus on getting your topics finalized. You will have a one-on-one conference with Mrs. Kubik to discuss your final topic choice.

English 11

Monday: Today we will begin with a grammar worksheet. We will hand out books, check out the on-line textbook, and talk about how the book works.

Tuesday: Today we will begin with a journal entry. We will take notes over the introduction to Collection 1. We will talk about the Native American oral tradition.

Wednesday:
Today we will begin with a grammar exercise. We will review the Native American oral tradition, and you will read some Native American creation literature.

Thursday: Today you will take notes over the intro to Collection 1. You will also have notes over the Puritan authors. You will read "...Upon the Burnin of Our House" on p 29, and "Of Plymouth Plantation" on p 119, and "Huswifery" on p 129.

Friday:
We will present your creation myths to the class. we will also discuss the Puritan reading assignments.

English 12

Monday: Today we will begin with a grammar worksheet. We will hand out books, check out the on-line textbook, and talk about how the book works.

Tuesday: Today we will begin with a journal entry. We will take notes over the introduction to Collection 1. We will then preview the literature of Collection 1.

Wednesday: Today we will begin with a grammar exercise. We will then do the introduction to Beowulf. We will begin reading Beowulf.

Thursday: Today we will be taking the notes over Beowulf, and we will begin reading in class.

Friday: Today we will continue reading part one of Beowulf. You will have questions due on Monday.

Speech

Monday:
We will begin working with the informative speech. You will learn what the ballot looks like, and how to be successful at informative speaking.

Tuesday:
We will do some acting exercises. This will help with your voice during your speech.

Wednesday: Today we will do some research for your informative speech. Your topic will be due at the end of the class period today.

Thursday: You will share your topics with the class today. We will also start your formal research for the project.

Friday: More research for your informative speech. We will present the speeches on September 5th.

College English

Monday: College English over ITV

Tuesday: We will begin with a grammar exercise. We will then take notes over the introduction to the collection and to Beowulf.

Wednesday:
College English over ITV

Thursday:
We will begin reading Beowulf. You will need to have Part I read, and the questions answered by Tuesday.

Friday: College English over ITV
